This Giving Tuesday, give to education justice

This year for #GivingTuesday, choose to be a Guardian of Education by becoming a monthly sustainer of AQE and our work.

This year, we won the fight that AQE was founded to win: the fight for adequate and equitable resources for New York's low income Black and Brown children. But the fight for equity does not stop here. AQE will continue to be on the front lines advocating for students: in working to reform school discipline codes, for culturally responsive curricula and police-free schools, for better access to childcare and universal pre-K for working families.

Decades of treating and funding child care as a private service rather than vital public infrastructure has left the system on the verge of collapse. Many child care centers have already been forced to close, and parents are struggling to access the child care they need. Where child care is still available, it is largely due to a dramatically underpaid workforce, overwhelmingly of women — especially women of color — who are paid wages that leave the majority in near poverty.

That's why we have organized this listening tour with an amazing group of advocates — to hear directly from child care providers and parents in our communities. We hope that you'll join so we can have a robust discussion about what it will take to solve this crisis.

On November 30, AQE will be hosting our second annual #GivingTuesday Telethon, bringing together parents, advocates, community members, and supporters to help us spread the word about AQE — and to help us recruit new recurring donors to support our work.
