Third time's the charm: Mechanicville girls' basketball reigns supreme, wins Section 2 Class B title in third straight finals appearance

TROY, N.Y. — The Mechanicville Red Raiders girls' varsity basketball team entered the 2025-2026 campaign with a sour taste in their mouths. Falling short in the Section 2 Class B title game in back-to-back seasons is enough to make any team angry. "Basketball is a long season," senior guard Molly DiSiena said. "Every single day we've been in the gym, and we just kept pushing." On Monday at Hudson Valley Community College, the tide was turned. When time expired in the Class B final versus Corinth, the Red Raiders were the ones proudly holding the sectional championship plaque. The grass […]

Dr. Randy Cale's Terrific Parenting: Leadership as a parent

I think it's fair to say that many of us have had experiences working with others where leadership skills were lacking. Perhaps you've had a manager, coach, or friend handle you like you were a 'subject' to be told what to do. I'm curious: how did those experiences make you feel? Now, consider what your children hear from you each day. Are you trying to control them with your words? If so, such […]
