READER'S VIEW: Albany's thirst for renewable energy projects leads to fewer safeguards

Albany is in full budget swing right now, with major policy decisions being negotiated behind closed doors, without transparency. One policy decision from a past budget that was created in similar darkness, is quietly shaping communities across the state today: the creation of the Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES). To understand ORES, we need to go back to 2019, when the state enacted the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). This sweeping legislation set ambitious clean energy targets, aiming to dramatically reduce carbon emissions and to transition New York toward renewable power. The timeline attached to those goals […]

Questions and answers from the 'Car Doctor'

Q. I have a 2008 Dodge RAM 1500 quad-cab. The bottom of all four doors are rusting away also above the rear wheel wells. What would the reason be for this? As I drive and walk around, I notice most Dodge RAM trucks of this era and body style have same rust. A. The rust happens due to water collecting in the doors. Unfortunately, doors/windows are not completely watertight, and water will accumulate in the doors. The doors have drains which allow the water to drain out. But gossip, or taking some unnecessary risk, as she thought of it – especially if it was delivered in the form of news and information – she felt better off just […]
