Hi Ashley,
Thank you everyone who joined us for our town hall last night! It was great to see so many of your faces and hear your contributions to the rich conversation. We are committed to educational justice for Black, Latinx and LGBTQIA youth. If you weren't able to join, you can find the recording of the meeting here, and the presentation slides here.
The 2021-22 school will kick off with a record high of new resources for students in New York State. This includes $12 billion in one time funding from the federal stimulus to help students and schools recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. And New York State is investing $1.4 billion in state funds to education to fully fund the state's Foundation Aid formula in 3 years.
What's next?
We need your help to identify the top priorities for how this new funding will be spent in your local school district! Click here to access a survey to help us determine what to prioritize when advocating for funding. Please complete the survey by April 30th. We will share results with respondents by May 7th.
You can also view our downloadable toolkit on the new funding schools will be getting, and how to hold districts accountable to local communities in how they choose to spend it.
Save the Date: Celebrate with us!
Together, we won a historic and transformative investment in New York's public schools. This victory wouldn't have been possible without each and every one of you, and we want to take a moment to celebrate and say thank you. Join us on Friday, April 23rd from 5 to 7 PM on Zoom.
Register for the Zoom here.
We hope to see you there!
