Hi Ashley,
Budget negotiations wrapped up last night, with an announcement of $7 billion investment in child care over the next four years.
But when it comes to an issue as complex as child care, the devil is in the details. Families and providers need immediate relief, starting THIS year. And we won't know for sure what the State's investment will do for them — and where it will fall short — until we see the budget language itself.
Join us for a state budget debrief on child care, pre-K-12 education and higher education on April 19th, where we'll be sharing what we learn and talking through our analysis with some of our legislative and organizational partners and allies.

The AQE staff will be taking some time off over the coming week. In the meantime, you can read our statement with an initial reaction to the budget announcement here.
No matter what the budget language holds, one thing is certain — our collective power made child care a top priority in the New York State budget for the first time in history. We are proud of all we accomplished together over this past session. Thank you for standing with us.
In solidarity,
Jasmine Gripper
