Hi Ashley,
State lawmakers have from January to April 1st to finalize New York State's state budget — and though it may not feel like it, that means the commencement of the budget negotiations is just around the corner.
That's why on January 18, parents, educators and advocates from across New York State will be traveling to Albany with AQE to set the stage for this year's legislative fight to ensure all students — especially Black, Latinx, immigrant and low income students — receive a high quality education, from birth to graduation. This #GivingTuesday, your donation will help us make our Education Justice Advocacy Day a success.
Even if you can't make it in person on January 18th, you can still show your support by sponsoring someone who is coming to Albany. Help us ensure we can transport and feed all the parents, students and community members attending:
- $25 will provide a lunch
- $50 will pay for one seat on the bus
- $100 will cover the total cost for one person to come to Albany for the day
With just a few short months in which the state budget will be decided, we need Governor Hochul and our State Legislators to hear our demands to create truly universal child care, to ensure our public schools are supportive and safe for all students, and to win the third and final year of the Foundation Aid phase-in — a historic milestone for New York State's public schools. Donate this #GivingTuesday to help us make our message of education justice heard in Albany on January 18 and beyond.
In solidarity,
Jasmine Gripper
