Hi Ashley,
Join us on Tuesday, May 23 at 6 PM for our virtual Budget Debrief on Education and Child Care to learn what we got for New York's children and families — and what we didn't get — in this year's enacted budget. Register now.
Here are the biggest takeaways for the coming year:
- K-12 education: Year 3 of the phase-in of Foundation Aid for public schools is fully funded
- Charter schools: We defeated the Governor's proposal that would have eliminated the regional cap, but the budget reauthorized 22 "zombie charters" that previously failed and closed, including 14 in NYC
- Child care: The budget includes $500 million for the child care workforce, as well as an expansion of access for families
We'll have more details on these updates and much more for you next week. Register now to join us on May 23 at 6 PM.
In solidarity,
Jasmine Gripper
