Urge your U.S. senators to stop student surveillance. The College Transparency Act passed the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee this morning. HELP reviews education legislation before it can move further in the Senate, so this vote advances the bill but does not yet make it law. The full Senate has not voted, and there is still time to stop it before it goes any further. The bill would create a federal database that follows college students long after they leave school, linking their education records with information held across the federal government. For communities already targeted by surveillance and state power, promises that this data will remain private are not enough. Education should open doors to freedom, not become an entry point into lifelong government tracking. This is the moment to contact your senators and urge them to vote NO.
