Learning Together this Black August Black August calls us to remember where our movements come from and to strengthen ourselves for the work ahead. Born inside California’s prison system, it honors Black political prisoners and freedom fighters whose resistance to state violence continues to inspire generations. It has become a time for study and collective action toward a more just future. On Thursday, August 20, we’re continuing that tradition with Interrupting Racial Microaggressions, a virtual workshop facilitated by Natasha Capers and Barbara Gross of Liberation Spaces. We’ll explore how race came to shape life in the United States and connect that history to the racial harm people encounter in everyday life. Through real life situations, we’ll practice how to recognize that harm and interrupt it.
