'You made it': Empire State University honors Class of 2025 winter graduates

ALBANY, N.Y. — Empire State University celebrated 360 graduates during two ceremonies on Friday, Dec. 5 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center. Empire State University Provost Rai Kathuria and New York State Assemblymember Carrie Woerner were in attendance at the event. According to a press release from Empire State University, the graduates honored collectively live in 62 different New York State counties, 25 U.S. states and territories, and 19 countries around the world. NYSP arrested 247 people for impaired driving over Thanksgiving

The New York State Police have announced that it issuance of 13,036 tickets statewide during this year's Thanksgiving holiday traffic enforcement period. The enforcement initiative began on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and continued through Sunday, Nov. 30. The Governor's Traffic Safety Committee funded the effort. Throughout the campaign, troopers conducted sobriety checkpoints, deployed additional DWI patrols and ticketed drivers who were using handheld electronic devices. Troopers arrested 247 people for DWI and investigated 1,277 crashes, including two fatal crashes. As part of the initiative, Troopers also focused on speeding and aggressive driving.
