This week, families are sending their kids back to school filled with excitement, and educators open their doors ready to nurture and inspire. But that hope, in the promise of a supportive and well-resourced classroom, is now under attack.
The House is pushing to cut over $12B from K-12 public schools, threatening a massive loss that would gut programs students and educators rely on every day at the public schools that serve the majority of our nation's children.
This bill will rob our highest need Black, brown, immigrant, disabled, lower-income, and rural students of the resources and opportunities that keep our future generations cared for and learning. It would slash funding for schools serving students in poverty by more than a quarter and eliminate support for English language learners, teacher training, and community schools entirely.
If this bill passes, it will mean more crowded classrooms, fewer opportunities, and less support for our kids. Educators are already stretched to their limits, and these cuts would push more schools into crisis.
Send your House representatives a letter calling on them to reject these harmful cuts. Let's meet the start of this school year with action!
