The Spa City had its very own pumpkin party on Saturday as people flocked downtown to enjoy the 10th Annual Saratoga Giant PumpkinFest. Growers from all over the northeast and beyond brought their biggest produce to try their hand at taking home the title of the heaviest crop. In a previous column, I mentioned the Town of Guilderland played a significant role in the American Revolution, although most people are unaware of it. Besides farmers supplying foodstuffs for the army at Saratoga, there was a major skirmish along the Normanskill that flows through the town located off modern-day Vosburgh Road.
