SIENA POLL: Hochul leads Stefanik by 25 points in early look at potential gubernatorial race

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. — Gov. Kathy Hochul's job approval and favorability ratings are both up a little from last month, and her favorability rating, 45-42% (42-44% in August), is now the best it's been since January 2024, according to a new Siena Poll of New York State registered voters. A majority or plurality of voters believe Hochul works hard, demonstrates honesty, gets things done, provides decisive leadership, and cares about people. Four of the five are up significantly from June 2024 (this is first time 'get things done' was asked). Hochul (D) now leads Rep. Elise Stefanik (R) 52-27%, in a […]

Questions and answers from the 'Car Doctor'

Q. I have been looking for a Certified Pre-Owned 2022 Lexus RX350 with the V-6 engine. As you know, this was the last year this engine was included in the RX350 before it was discontinued in favor of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine. I had the impression the V6 was a terrific engine, dependable, durable, and powerful. What is your opinion of each one? Bottom line: At 73, I am looking for comfortable and quiet ride after driving a 2010 Honda Civic for years. A. The four-cylinder engine performs well, and it is capable of 275 horsepower. The V-6 engine in […]

Siobhan Connally's Ittybits & Pieces: Chief pooper scooper

"I see you got the Whisker 4000 SX," my neighbor nodded. It probably wasn't an exact quote, but it's what I thought I heard as I tilted my head and stared blankly at her over the fence. I understood the words individually, but when strung together, they lacked meaning. "I must have missed an important context. What now?" "Evidently, you missed the package the delivery truck dropped on your front porch this morning … it looks like you guys got a kitty litter robot." "Not guys," I think sourly. One. Guy. The H.U.S.B.A.N.D. He'd be The Guy. The next realization […]
