Our country is built on the labor, care, and contributions of immigrants, Black women, and generations of working families. Yet time and again, those same communities are targeted, underpaid, and pushed out of the systems they help sustain. This week, in honor of Black Women's Equal Pay Day, we're not just talking about wage gaps. We're talking about who this country chooses to value, and who it tries to erase.
The Trump administration's latest attacks go even further. Yesterday's federal actions cut immigrant families off from programs like Head Start, mental health care, and numerous family support services. These are life-saving resources, especially for women of color, lower-income parents, and caregivers nationwide. Stripping them away isn't about holding up the law or any sense of fairness - it's a cruel, calculated decision targeting those carrying the weight of this country's labor force, all while threatening the futures of its children and families across all of our communities.
As New Yorkers, we will not stand by and let this happen. We're calling on you to take action. Send a letter to your members of Congress today and make it clear that we reject these inhumane policies.
